Fash-Looks: NYFW Spring 2012

New York! New York! The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2011 (a.k.a. NYFW 2011) brings a brand new season of trends: Sportswear, Softness, Color-Blocking, Alternative Outerwear and Street Style.

Alexander Wang: This man is unstoppable. For Spring 2012, he takes us on a race through the fast tracks with mesh bomber jackets, brights, body-hugging silhouettes and sheer tribal prints. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Jason Wu: I super duper love this collection. I don’t even know where to start. The print collaboration with KAWS is gorgeous. The dress (below) is to-die-for. LIKE!

Oscar de la Renta: This is a man who knows drama. He kicked start the show with a voluminous gown with couture lace crop top over it. You gotta admire the amazing craft on every piece in his collection. This season is a definite red carpet shoo-in.

3.1 Phillip Lim: His Spring 2012 collection reminds of how Spring is meant to be. His fresh, sorbet colors and minimalist look whisper sweetness into the new year of 2012.

Prabal Gurung: Can I just say that the Asian designers are kicking ass? Prabal Gurung’s floral print mixed with sheer fabric brings out a hidden sensuality of a woman. That laser-cut black dress worn by Karlie Kloss – I DIE A MILLION TIMES. That’s a winner, in my book.

Altazurra: Another designer inspired by sportswear this Spring 2012. Joseph Altazurra is lovin’ street style meets Hawaiian-like prints. I’m getting a little 90s vibe here.

Rodarte: I’m not a fan of the entire collection but I do like a couple of looks such as the Van Gogh-like print dress and the color-block look. Otherwise, the rest just look too ‘eerrr’.

BCBG MAXAZRIA: Color-blocking continues as BCBG MAXAZRIA brings back its love all things art-deco and minimalistic.

Calvin Klein: It’s all about feminine, soft lines for Calvin Klein. Forget structural pieces and bring back the curves! And yes, show off some bras.

DKNY: Donna Karan loves New York and she shows her adoration for her favorite city by using the iconic yellow cab as the backdrop of her Spring 2012 DKNY show. I’m absolutely lovin’ the jackets from this collection as well as the wide-brimmed sun hat.

Fash-Looks: New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011

I feel like I’m just stepping into Spring/Summer season but the fashion industry has moved on to Fall/Winter RTW 2011. I may be a little late in reporting on the Fall/Winter but better late than never ever ever ever. Let’s start with a round up of my favourite looks from New York Fashion Week.

Prabal Gurung will be in Singapore for this May’s Audi Fashion Festival. I can’t tell you how many looks I’m in love with from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection. The one thing that stood out is this hand painted ombre coat. LOVE!

Alexander Wang is all about urban grit. This bomber jacket-poncho with those peep-toe boots! Such a knockout.
